Mission

We preserve and promote the stories of historical and living Chicago women who have made contributions toward achieving justice and equality in the areas of labor, women’s, human and civil rights.

How do we accomplish our mission?

  • Research women’s stories and collect oral histories
  • Create performance pieces based on working women’s stories and present them in public venues, unions and schools
  • Develop study guides for performances in schools
  • Publish women’s stories in our newsletter and on our website
  • Host events in which we invite women to tell their own stories and describe their work
  • Partner with other educational organizations whose mission and programs address women’s history, labor rights, and women’s issues
  • Host a Facebook page to encourage readers to express their thoughts and ideas
